Pink Day ActivitiesWenesday, March 2nd, 2016

Hello Families!

This is a special note to highlight some important events that are happening at Jack MacKenzie next Wednesday, March 2, which will be our school’s Day of Pink.

-Please dress in Pink!  We are hoping to have our student population in pink or in the Red Cross Day of pink t-shirts that day.
-In the morning, there will be some special anti-bullying activities run by our school Student Leadership Committee.
-In the afternoon, we will be pleased to welcome the members of the Red Cross and Saskatchewan Roughrider Respect Ed Team, who will be sharing a message of anti-bullying.  It is because of the availability of this presentation that we have decided to make March 2 the Jack MacKenzie Day of Pink.

-In the evening, we are so pleased to host our Parent Seminar.  This is an event for YOU, the parents, to learn how you can support your children, in a variety of different ways.  There will be handouts and give-aways in some sessions – please feel free to come to part or all of this evening!

Day of Pink Seminar

Dear Families:

Mr. Jack MacKenzie envisioned this school as a place “Where Effort and Kindness Counts”.  On Wednesday, March 2, we will be focusing all our efforts directly on this with our Jack MacKenzie Day of Pink.

We have planned a full day around kindness and anti-bullying.  Our hard working SLC members will be visiting classrooms in the morning to share these messages.  In primary classes, our student leaders will be reading stories on anti-bullying, and talking with children about how to be a good friend.  In intermediate and senior classes, the SLC will be sharing activities and anti-bullying videos.  We are proud of these students who model such positivity.

In the afternoon, we are so pleased to welcome the Canadian Red Cross and the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club who are teaming up for a fight against bullying.  The Riders will deliver the “Beyond the Hurt” program, which explores all aspects of bullying and harassment in schools.  Beginning at 1:15, our K-4 students will participate in the first 30 minutes of this presentation, and our grade 5-8 students will remain in the gym for a further 90 minutes.  Parents are most welcome to join us for this powerful and informative afternoon.

Finally, we would like to invite parents and our community out to our evening Day of Pink Parent Seminar.  This will run from 6:30 – 7:45 pm, as we host the sessions listed below in the Library and the senior pod classrooms.  We have invited parents from our neighbouring schools, including our friends at St. Gabriel.  We are hoping for a great turnout!
